Michoacán/Purépecha Traditions of Día de los Muertos Community Ofrenda

Every one of us has lost someone. Let us remember together.

October 27th marks the first day of the Día de los Muertos season, when families begin welcoming back their departed loved ones.

Lady Luna, Sanadora, has created a beautiful community ofrenda for What Remains, our exhibit on how cultures across the world honor their dead. Join us that evening as she presents the ofrenda and shares the Michoacán/Purépecha traditions of Día de los Muertos.

You're invited to bring a photo, a name, or a small memento of someone you love who has died, and place it on the ofrenda alongside the marigolds, candles, and offerings that guide the spirits home. Please bring copies of photographs rather than originals.

Come honor those who came before us, and celebrate the love that remains.
Ven a honrar a quienes nos precedieron y a celebrar el amor que permanece.

Light refreshments / pan de muerto served.
